Fangs N Feathers offers far more than an animal encounter.
Our sessions are designed to support the curriculum, inspire curiosity, and provide memorable learning experiences that help primary and secondary schools engage students across a wide range of subjects.
We understand that schools need activities that are educational, relevant, inclusive, and capable of supporting both academic outcomes and personal development. By bringing a carefully selected collection of reptiles directly into school, we provide hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and memorable.
Our workshops can support the Science curriculum by exploring adaptation, classification, ecosystems, food webs, evolution, vertebrates and invertebrates, animal behaviour, and biodiversity. Meeting live animals allows students to observe real examples of biological concepts that are often only seen in textbooks, helping to deepen understanding and improve retention. Sessions can also reinforce topics in Geography through discussions about habitats, climate, conservation, and the impact humans have on wildlife around the world.
Fangs N Feathers can contribute to PSHE and wellbeing programmes by encouraging confidence, resilience, empathy, and responsible behaviour. Many students who are reluctant to participate in traditional classroom activities become highly engaged when interacting with animals, creating opportunities to develop communication skills and self-esteem. Our visits can also support nurture groups, alternative provision, and students with additional educational needs by providing calm, sensory experiences that encourage positive engagement.
We work with schools to tailor each visit to their specific objectives, year groups, and curriculum requirements. Whether supporting a science department, enriching an ecology topic, rewarding student achievement, or providing an engaging enrichment day, our aim is to help schools deliver inspiring educational experiences that spark curiosity and foster a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
School visits and Home Education groups or individuals play a vital role in fostering a love for these often misunderstood animals and we look forward to meeting you all.

Are you looking for something different for Book Week?
Let us bring a new twist on story telling to your Pre-school or Reception classroom. We'll read a reptile/amphibian related story to the children and follow that up with a hands-on encounter with some of our amazing reptiles!
